It really is a sweet feeling for me to know that Bright Night Flowers will soon be available for people to listen to and share in. In some ways this record has taken seven years to make and yet in other ways it is very much something new. You could call it a labour of love but really it was just me getting on with getting on, playing with the music until it took on a shape that was pleasing to me and then hopefully to others.
Lyrically i think the songs on this record will speak for themselves, there’ll be no doubting the sentiment but, like all things, even heartache, this should never be taken too seriously, if you look closely enough there is beauty and hope to be found in even the most painful of experiences.
This record wouldn’t have been possible without the talents of Stuart McCredie as co producer, mixer and engineer and Will Foster who’s beautiful string arrangements elevated these songs in a way that allowed them to transform in front of my eyes in the most unexpected of ways.
If you do listen and find something to connect with then thank you for taking the ride with me, it makes the whole enterprise all the more satisfying… after all no man is an island!
